Vietnam National Museum of History

With the approval of Vietnamese Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Vietnam National Museum of History collaborated with the National Museum of History to hold an exhibition named “The early time of ancient Vietnamese culture” in South Korea by the end of April 2014.

During 20-28/3/2014, VNMH and NMK have packed and forwarded the items to South Korea for the preliminary works of exhibition: taking photographs, cataloging and installing…

The objects to be exhibited this time include labor tools, house wares, weapons, jewelries, music instruments and grave goods in different types of materials such as stone, ceramics, bronze, crystal.

With over 350 objects, the exhibition focuses on some famous culture such as:

Phung Nguyen, Dong Dau, Go Mun cultures, dating back to 4.000 - 2.500 years ago

Dong Son culture dating back to 2.500 - 2.000 years ago

Sa Huynh culture dating back to 2.500 - 2.000 years ago

The collections to be introduced to South Korea and international visitors represent for the material and spiritual life and culture of old Vietnamese in the early time of building the state.

Some objects to be exhibited:

Nha chuong (ritual weapon), Phung Nguyen culture 4.000 - 3.500 years ago

Earring, Dong Dau culture, 3.500 - 3.000 years ago

Ceramic printing form, 3.500 - 2.500 years ago

Bracelet with bells, Dong Son culture 2.500 - 2.000 years ago

Bronze drum, Dong Son culture 2.500 - 2.000 years ago

Axe, Dong Son culture 2.500 - 2.000 years ago

Earring, Pre Oc Eo culture, 2.500 - 2.000 years ago

Earring, Sa Huynh culture, 2.500 - 2.000 years ago

On April 21, 2026, the Vietnam National Museum of History (VNMH) hosted a working session with the Korea Heritage Service, on the occasion of the Sate visit of the President of the Republic of Korea to Vietnam. The Korean delegation was led by Chairman Huh Min, accompanied by Mr. Lee Eun Seok, Director of the National Research Institute of Maritime Heritage (NRIMH) and other members. They were received by Mr. Nguyen Van Doan, Director of the VNMH together with Mr. Nguyen Quoc Binh, Deputy Director, and heads of the Museum’s specialized departments.

From April 1 through 4, 2014, VNMH and Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ba Ria - Vung Tau have run a research on archaeological relics on Long Son island. This research is one part of site clearance works for a project of building Long Son oil refinery industrial zone.
