On a visit to Guangzhou, China for study and exchange about museum and relic system, a delegation sent from VNHM have taken part in a seminar with the subject on International Academy Exchange on the Archaeology of Nanyue held at the Museum of the Mausoleum of the Nanyue King dated March 27, 2014.

Attending the seminar were scholars from universities of Japan and specialists of Chinese institutes of archaeology. The seminars focused on the presentations such as:

1. Detections and studies on Nanyue kingdom (Dr. Quan Hong - Director of Museum of the Mausoleum of the Nanyue King)

2. Detections and studies on tombs in Nanyue kingdom (Yi Xi Ping - Guangzhou Archaeological Institute)

3. Detections and studies on tombs in Wu Hua Shi Xiong San (Liu Zhang, Guang Zhou Archaeological Institute)

4. New studies on He Pu, Han Dynasty, Guang Xi (Dr. Xiong Zhao Ming – Guang Xi Archaeological Institute)

5. Studies on Luy Lau citadel (Vietnam) (Huang Xiao Fen – East Asia UniversityJapan)

6. Characteristics and distribution of tomb under Han dynasty in Hua Nan (Dr. Liu Shui, Archaeological Institute of China)

7. The space that affects Nintoku King’s tomb (Ichinose Kazuo, Kyoto Tachibana UniversityJapan)

8. Universe archaeological research and ancient relic environment study (Etaya Masahiro, Japan)

9. Animal taking and foundation of Andes civilization – North Peru temple relic (Usawa Kazuhiro – University of East Asia)

Together with the report of Prof. Huang Xiao Fen on Luy Lau citadel, VNMH delegation contributed a presentation titled “Position of Luy Lau in the first ten centuries AD” addressed by Mr. Nguyen Van Doan. The presentation has attracted a lot of interests and valuations on Luy Lau in terms of its connection to Nanyue culture and Guangzhou’s relics in particular and in China and Japan in general.

The seminar has brought meanings in many aspects, especially for the JapanVietnam co-operation on studying and excavations of Luy Lau (Bac Ninh) in the coming time.

From 18 May 2019, the exhibition “Treasures of the Red River. Archaeological Collections from the Museums of Vietnam” will be running in the Winter Palace’s Halls of the History of Ancient Writings. It is being timed to mark Ho Chi Minh’s birthday and the days of the city named in his honour.

On March 11, 2014, the exhibition of ‘Dong Son culture” has been opened at Malaysia’s National Museum. This event is held to celebrate 90 years of finding and studying Dong Son culture (1924 – 2014).
