20 years of resistance against the invasion of the American imperialists
in period 1955 - 1975 was a time of ceaseless war and struggle, a time of hardships and sacrifices, a tragic epic of the Vietnamese people. Steadfast in their determination to defend their national independence and unify the country, the Vietnamese people united as one under the banner of the Party to overcome every difficulty, advancing from victory to victory: from the Dong Khoi uprising movement in Ben Tre, Ap Bac and Van Tuong; to the Tet Offensive of 1968; the great 1972 battle known as the Dien Bien Phu of the Skies, and the great Spring Victory of the historic Ho Chi Minh Campaign in 1975, by which the total liberation of the South and unification of the country was achieved. This exhibition area displays objects relating to everyday civilian life as well as the life and work of our armed forces in wartime, together with the laying of important foundations for the country’s postwar life and development.
