This book was complied by National Museum of Vietnamese History. The group of authors were Dr Pham Quoc Quan and Dr Nguyen Dinh Chien.

There are 3 parts in this book:

Part 1: Brown patterned Ceramic: used the brown to paint mainly and it had folk - art strongly. It existed for a long time, from the XI to XV century, and was ruined when the blue and white ceramic was gradualy popular in the world. Brown patterned Ceramic had a lot of types such as: pots, bowls, vases, basins, lampstands…

Part 2: The readers can understand well about the Brown patterned Ceramic through 82 pages of color photos with 200 different photos in this book. The popular types of Browwn patterned Ceramic collection was household articles.

There were a few types which used for worship such as: lampstands, lotus pedestals, stupa models…The group of authors presented the book as the alphabet which was listed out in the part I, so the readers can understand easily. This book had the short note in Vietnamese and English. This is a useful instrument to refer to whom would like to know about the Brown patterned Ceramic.

Part 3: The drawings with 38 pages including:

- Some typical shapes and kinds

- Some typical designs.

Its size is 21cm x 29cm, with 224 pages
