One of national precious artifact types is bronze drums. Our ancestor gave us them as an invaluable heritage. Bronze drums are not only beautiful about art, sophisticated about casting technique, but they are same as lively pages of our history. Bronze drums reflected life, economy, and social of our forefather during some thousand years, from Hung Kings time. They are brilliant symbol of Dong Son culture, a famous culture in the world.

In the heritage treasure of Vietnamese culture, Thanh Hoa is a famous province with biggest quantity of bronze drums in Vietnam. That is first province that scholars archaeological excavated bronze drums from the soil. For this reason, when we study Vietnamese bronze drums, we cannot study about Thanh Hoa bronze drums.

“Thanh Hoa bronze drums” is an art work about Dong Son bronze drums. It introduce adequate, interesting, updated about these drums in Thanh Hoa. Besides, the book published source document of 142 drums of three types that Thanh Hoa owns in four kinds of drum classified by scholar F. Heger and some special drums. Some document about two places Dong Co worship, means temple worship in Dan Ne (Yen Dinh district) and Hoang Minh (Hoang Hoa district) also announced on this occasion. Book also gives some feature about drum casting in many traditional villages of Thanh Hoa.

Publication really useful tool for scientists when learning about the treasures as well as ancient history of our country. This is valuable documentation for person who research art refer about the ancient art of ancestor.
