Con Dao in the past was Con Lon islands, standed to keep Dong Sea palatially as a outpost fortress defending South-East coast of the country. Since 1862, the French colonialism occupied Con Dao, constructed prison, opressed Vietnam people who love nation. Con Dao was prison first, the largest scale and the most cruel of colonial regime in Indochina. Onehundred and thirteen year history of Con Dao since French colonialism established prison until the complete liberation (1862-1975) linked to the history of the heroic struggle of generations of patriots fighting for independence and freedom of the Vietnam country.

Con Dao - From Historical View"offers a new view, through each historical event, each historical character help readers better understand the fierce struggle of patriots and revolutionary grim circumstance in place "hell on earth", the association with the development of Vietnam's revolution. Each article in the book reappeared vividly, truely historical circumstance and portrait of the typical characters in every angle, in every period.

The book consists of three contents:

Part I. Overview of Con Dao.

Part II. Con Dao prison under French colonialism (1862-1954).

Part III. Con Dao prison under the American Puppet (1954-1975)
