Long An is a province whose area is about 4.500 km2, one of the biggest provinces in the Mekong Delta. This is a region that has many different ecological charateristics, even contrary to one another. It has high topography of accient alluvial bench and low topography of new alluvial sediment along with two river of Vam Co Dong and Vam Co Tay and ten of big and small arroyos interlace windingly everywhere. Its rich and multiform vegetational cover and animal community are rather fully displayed ecological landscapes of the whole area of SouthVietnam.
In Long An, the Oc Eo cultural sites or belongings to its developmental tradition – the Post – Oc Eo had been known since the early decade of the XX century, but the important discoveries were only found out since 1986 afterwards.
