Realizing the Decision n o 322/QD-BVHTT of the 7/2/2007 of the Ministry of Culture and Information and the requirement of the popular committee of Thua Thien-Hue, from 09 February to 06 April 2007, a group of archaeologists of the Museum of History of Vietnam

Realizing the Decision no 322/QD-BVHTT of the 7/2/2007 of the Ministry of Culture and Information and the requirement of the popular committee of Thua Thien-Hue, from 09 February to 06 April 2007, a group of archaeologists of the Museum of History of Vietnam has coordinated with the Center of Preservation of Vestiges of the ancient Hue to carry out the archaeological excavation of the site of no 85 Nguyen Chi Dieu, situated at phuong of Thuan Thanh of Hue City, in the purpose of gathering scientific informations on the cultural stages buried in the earth and liberating the area for the use of the tourism company Huong giang.

This sector was before the storehouse of the military commandment of province Thua Thien Hue. After the historical documents now available, this place was the yard of the Kham Thien Giam des Nguyen, a meteorogical and astronomical vestige, the unique remaining of the Vietnamese history, place where was situated the Thai Y Giang Duong, one of the services of the Institute of Medicine of the Nguyen

The excavation is realized by Nguyen Tuan Lam, Hoang Van Thuong and Do Tran Cu, durant two months (from 09/02 to 06/04/2007) with an excavation area of 987m2. The purpose of this excavation is to gather documents on the architectural vestiges discovered in the pits, giving us preliminary knowledges on the cultural stages existing in the sector. This excavation has permitted to bring to light many archaeological vestiges, contributing to the research on the cultural and spiritual life of those who have resided in the sector.

Second excavation of the site of Nghia Lap

The site of Nghia Lap is situated at the hamlet Nghia Lap, commune of Nghia Hung, huyen of Vinh Tuong, province of Vinh Phuc. The site has suffered a first excavation at the end of 1967. After a general study of the site and of the vestiges, the authors have classified Nghia Lap in the culture of Phung Nguyen, dating from the beginning of the bronze age.
