Da Kai site is at No 3 village, Da Kai commune, Duc Linh district, Binh Thuan province. It was discovered in 1981 and excavated in 1998. Through excavation, this site was known as a circular earthwork site and was also one of very small number of sites in Vietnam where discovered stone musical instrument.

nd time from December, 2005 to March, 2006 by National Museum of Vietnamese History co-ordinated with The Cuture and Information Department of Binh Thuan province in order to study deeply its cultural characteristic and content. A huge mount of abudant objects was founded included 400 stone specimens, more than 10,000 potsherds. Basing on the excavative result and investigation on the field, excavators gave some conclusions:
- Excavative site: It is either a open-air residential site or a ceramic producted centre with its unique style. Next to, Da Kai site is not the circular earthwork site
- Date of site: Da Kai site dated in Metal Age, circa 3,000 years before present and includes 2 uninterrupted residential layers:
+ Early layer: residented in the North of site where is nearby water (river or stream). This period is presented by potteries
+ Late layer: residented not only in the North but also in the South of site. Fine potteries are typical in this period with more skilful technique and more beautiful pattern which showed a step of new development of their material and spiritual.
- Culture: + Da Kai site with typical characteristics from objects (particularly pottery) has a new and special cultrural content compaired with sites from countries in Asia.
+ Potteries from Da Kai site have a common characteristic with sites in Tay Nguyen ( Central Highland) and East of Southern (An Son, Rach Nui, Binh Da sites…). It is common characteristic not only of a period but also possible from its tradition.
