Lasting until February 2017, the exhibition is displaying approximately 400 historical artefacts classified into three categories – Prehistory, My Son Sanctuary (a temple complex in central Vietnam) and Thang Long Imperial Citadel.

The event plays an important role in deepening mutual understanding and connectivity between Vietnam and Germany, contributing to marking the two countries’ five-year strategic partnership.

According to Vietnamese Ambassador to Germany Doan Xuan Hung, the transport of such a large volume of archaeological items encountered various difficulties. Director of the LWL museum Josef Muhlenbrock has devoted his time and efforts to coordinate the two-year exhibition.

After being displayed at the LWL museum, these Vietnamese treasures will continue to be on show at the State Museum of Archaeology Chemnitz in Saxony and the Reiss-Engelhorn-Museums in Mannheim.-VNA
