In the 3rd quarter, beginning of the 4th quarter of 2007, the Service of Culture and Information of the province of Hai Duong has organized a symposium on the theme “View on the archaeological activities in the province of Hai Duong in the XXth and the beginning of the XXIth century” in order to recapitulate the good and bad aspects and revise the orientations for the archaeological activities on the land of Hai Duong in the work of preservation of the national culturel patrimony in an efficient manner in the years to come. Hai Duong is a province of the delta of Tonkin. There one can find numerous historical sites on the earth with remarkable and typical architectural constructions, but the soil of Hai Duong keeps still in its bosom numerous archaeological sites of paleontology of the age of copper - early iron; on the ten centuries of the beginning of the christian era; the sites of the time of Tran; and particularly the sites of the ceramics traditional villages. The archaeological researches in this province in thes last decades are extremely important and helped to clarify many problems of local and national history. However, the documents and the scientific reports on these explorations are disseminated among scientific organizations, making it very difficult to classify the documents of the branch of Culture and Information of the province of Hai Duong.
This symposium expects to furnish informations to this work and, above all, orientations to the researches and explorations in this province which is being urbanized very quickly.
The results of research and exploration of the ceramic ovens are in this orientation and will contribute to the development of artifact villages, which are now not at pace with a land with a surname “natal country of vietnamese ceramics”.
