Hanoi city will organize diverse cultural activities to mark the 60thanniversary of the capital's liberation (October 10).

The activities aim to review glorious tradition, and arouse patriotism and pride among cadres, party members and people in the capital.

Activities will be held according to three phases. The first phase is from the beginning of 2014 to May 19th to mark the 39th anniversary of the southern liberation (April 30), the 128 years of May Day, the 60th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory (May 7) and the 124th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh’s birth.

The second phase will be from May 20 to October 10 to mark the 60th anniversary of the capital's liberation. On this occasion, a meeting to mark the anniversary will be held to honour outstanding groups and individuals in the movement of patriotic emulation; nine exhibitions, seminars and tourism festivals will be held. The highlight of these activities is the scientific seminar on the inheritance and development of 1000-year Thang Long – Hanoi military arts and culture values, the exhibition on socio-economic and cultural achievements of the capital over the past 60 years, and a photo exhibition on 60 years of capital liberation.

A special art performance, the fourth Hanoi dragon festival, Hanoi singing contest, Hanoi fashion week, Hoa Binh cultural day and bicycle racing festivals will be held. Fireworks will be set off on October 10.

In the third phase, culture and art activities will be organized to mark the 70th anniversary of the Vietnamese People’s Army, the New Year and the lunar New Year 2015.

The city will also organize events to educate cadres, party members and people about the great historical significance of the capital liberation, as well as other great national festivals./.
