On the occasion of 30 years of the Vietnam - Thailand relation (6/8/1976 - 6/8/2006), the Vietnam Heritage Day (23/11/1945 - 23/11/2006) and welcome the APEC Meeting, a special exhibition: "The Thailand antiquities" to present collections of Thailand antiquities (about 300 objects) which are storing in National Museum of Vietnamese History with diffirent types, materials and belong to many historical periods of Thailand kingdom as:
On the occasion of 30 years of the Vietnam - Thailand relation (6/8/1976 - 6/8/2006), the Vietnam Heritage Day (23/11/1945 - 23/11/2006) and welcome the APEC Meeting, a special exhibition: "The Thailand antiquities" to present collections of Thailand antiquities (about 300 objects) which are storing in National Museum of Vietnamese History with diffirent types, materials and belong to many historical periods of Thailand kingdom as:

1. Collections of terracotta, ceramic wares:

- terracotta building materials, architectural decorations

- Ban Chieng ceramic wares (400 B.C - 200 A.D)

- Sawankalok ceramics wares (13th - 15th century)

- Benjarong polychrome enamel ceramic (19th - 20th century)

2. Collections of bronze:

- bronze Buddha statues (19th - 20th century)

- gilded bronze Buddha statues (19th - 20th century)

- enamel bronze domestic uses (19th - 20th century)

- domestic uses of bronze inlaid gold (19th 20th century)

3. Collections of wood:

- gilded wood Buddha statues

- gilded wood ritual uses

- gilded wood architectural decorations (19th - 20th century)

- gilded wood furnitures

- domestic uses of wood inlaid oyster

Particularly, in which, collection of Buddha statue is typical characteristic of Thailand - a country was call with the name "country of golden monk's robe", and the ceramic collection which showed Thailand was a centre of the international cultural and commercial exchange.

This is one of activities in order to promote closer relation ties as well as cultural exchange between Vietnam - Thailand.

The exhibition will be opened on 10 November 2006 and finished on 15 January 2007.

From 18 May 2019, the exhibition “Treasures of the Red River. Archaeological Collections from the Museums of Vietnam” will be running in the Winter Palace’s Halls of the History of Ancient Writings. It is being timed to mark Ho Chi Minh’s birthday and the days of the city named in his honour.

Like other agricultural countries in South-East Asia, Vietnam has a long-time tradition in ceramics production. In nearly ten thousand years of existence and development, ceramics have accompanied the vietnamese people in all activities of social life .
