For the purpose of the Renovation and Upgrade Project, the Vietnam National Museum of History will temporarily close the permanent exhibition area at Facility 1 (01 Trang Tien Str., Cua Nam Dist., Hanoi) starting December 15, 2025. This area includes the exhibition on Vietnamese history from Prehistory to the Nguyen Dynasty (1945). The reopening date will be announced later.

During this time, the exhibition at Facility 2 (216 Tran Quang Khai Str., Hoan Kiem Str., Hanoi), covering Vietnamese history from the mid- 19th century to the present, will remain open to visitors.

From 18 May 2019, the exhibition “Treasures of the Red River. Archaeological Collections from the Museums of Vietnam” will be running in the Winter Palace’s Halls of the History of Ancient Writings. It is being timed to mark Ho Chi Minh’s birthday and the days of the city named in his honour.

As part of the ongoing thematic exhibition “Popular Education - Lighting the Future,” the Volunteer Club of the Vietnam National Museum of History (VNMH) held a seminar on 23 November 2025 titled “Vietnamese Quốc Ngữ Script: Its Name and Its Rise in Society during the Late 19th - Early 20th Century”.
