Responding to the invitation of the Son La Provincial Museum and Library, the Vietnam National Museum of History (VNMH) provided lectures at a training workshop on September 15 -16, 2025. The workshop focused on skills for organizing educational and experiential programs and promoting reading culture, with the participation of 30 staff members.

The program included four topics:
1. Heritage education as an essential mission of museums and heritage sites, with insights from domestic and international practices.
2. Approaches and skills in designing and organizing educational and experiential activities.
3. Strategies for communication, socialization, and diversification of educational and experiential activities at museums and heritage sites.
4. Reading culture development through experiential library activities.
Topics 1 - 3 were presented by Ms. Pham Thi Mai Thuy, M.A., Head of Education and Communication, and Ms. Lê Thị Liên, M.A., Education and Communication Officer, both from the VNMH. Topic 4 was delivered by Ms. Tran Thi Phuong Lan, Head of the Reading Department, the National Library of Vietnam.

The training provided participants with theoretical insights and practical exercises on heritage education, including group work and project presentations. This integration of theory and practice made the learning process more engaging and effective.

The training workshop was a practical and meaningful activity, enabling staff of the Son La Provincial Museum and Library to enhance their knowledge and skills in heritage education, interpretation, and visitor services. At the same time, it provided a deeper understanding of the specific characteristics of each field, opening new directions for effectively combining experiential education with the promotion of reading culture in the context of the recent merger of the two institutions.
At the workshop, Mr. Nguyen An Dai - Member of the Party Committee of the Son La Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Deputy Director of the Son La Provincial Museum and Library; and Head of the Organizing Committee emphasized that the program was designed to update knowledge, strengthen professional capacity and practical skills of the staff. At the same time, it aimed to enhance their ability to design and implement educational and experiential activities linked with books, documents, artifacts, and exhibition spaces, thereby contributing to the dissemination of the historical, cultural, and intellectual values of the province to the wider community.

The training workshop enhanced the professional skill and encouraged innovation among staff of the Son La Provincial Museum and Library in heritage education and reading promotion. Additionally, it reaffirmed the role of the Vietnam National Museum of History in supporting local museums and libraries in their efforts to preserve and promote cultural heritage.
