The exhibition provides an overview of Vietnam’s cultural history, emphasizing culture as a continuous thread that shapes and inspires the national spirit through the country’s various stages of development.
It begins with prehistoric artifacts from sites such as An Khe, Nui Do, Tham Khuyen, and Tham Hai, which reveal the early presence of humans in Vietnam. This is followed by relics from ancient cultures, including Dong Son in the North, Sa Huynh in the Central region, and Dong Nai in the South - the foundations of traditional culture and the early Vietnamese states.
The display also highlights artifacts that demonstrate the resilience of Vietnamese culture, showcasing its resistance to outside influences while adopting beneficial foreign elements. It narrates the story of the people’s struggle for independence during the first ten centuries, culminating in the Battle of Bach Dang in 938, which liberated the nation and marked the beginning a new era of independence.
The cultural traditions of Vietnam allowed its feudal dynasties to develop independently, leading to a flourishing culture that asserted identity through major achievements and victories in building and defending the nation.
Over time, these traditions became the foundation of national strength, culminating in the August Revolution of 1945 and ushering in a new era of independence and freedom. Building on that foundation, the Vietnamese people established a socialist system, defended their country, and engaged with the world. These values continue to be preserved and passed down, inspiring today’s and future generations to contribute to the nation’s development and to assert Vietnam’s position on the international stage.
