Following the Diplomatic Note of Exchange on the project “Improving the capacity to preserve and restore cultural heritage of the Vietnam National Museum of History” between the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Embassy of Japan in Vietnam, on November 28, 2023, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Japan International Cooperation Agency signed an agreement to support preservation equipment for VNMH.
On the afternoon of April 22, 2024, the Vietnam National Museum of History (VNMH) had a meeting with the Representatives of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Consulting Agency appointed by JICA.
Participants of the meeting included Dr. Nguyen Van Doan - Director of VNMH, Mr. Shinoda Takanobu - Senior Representative of JICA, Mr. Otomo Yohei - Chief Consultant and professional officials of the Parties.

At the meeting, the two sides agreed to make efforts to carry out the next steps of the Project in accordance with the expected process and schedule. Dr. Nguyen Van Doan said that the Museum is urgently preparing to renovate the building for preservation equipment, ensuring technical requirements, convenience and optimal efficiency during operation. At the same time, the Museum is also urgently completing procedures for receiving and importing equipment.
After surveying the current situation and discussing the specific terms, the VNMH’s Director and the Representative of the Consulting Agency (appointed and authorized by JICA) signed the Project Consulting Contract.

The two sides highly appreciated the two countries’ effective cooperation and support for each other throughout the implementation of this project.
The Japanese Consulting Team will continue to work with the Museum's professional officials on the issue of technical specifications of specialized equipment until April 27, 2024.
