On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the appeal for patriotic emulation issued by President Ho Chi Minh the thematic exhibition titled "The Patriotic Emulation - Fostering Talent" was launched at the Vietnam National Museum of History (VNMH) on the morning of June 9th, 2023.

Participants of the opening ceremony included Mr. Hoang Dao Cuong -Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Prof. Dr. Luu Tran Tieu - Chairman of the National Council of Cultural Heritage; Mr. Nong Quoc Thanh - Deputy Director of Department of Cultural Heritage; Assoc.Prof.Dr. Do Van Tru - Chairman of Vietnam Cultural Heritage Associatio, Prof. Dr. Pham Mai Hung - Vice President of Vietnam Association of Historical Science; Mr. Duong Trung Quoc - Vice President and Secretary General of the Vietnam Association of Historical Sciences; Mr. Nguyen Duc Thin - Hero of Labour and People’s Teacher; Athlete Nguyen Thi Oanh; Ms. Nguyen Thu Ha - Principal of Trung Vuong Secondary School, Dr. Nguyen Van Doan - Director of VNMN and representatives of museums and news agencies in Hanoi.

On June 11th, 1948 President Ho Chi Minh called for patriotic emulation to encourage people’s engagement in eliminating starvation, illiteracy and invaders, speeding up the victory of the resistance war. Under the light of President Ho Chi Minh's thought on patriotic emulation, the movements have developed strongly in various forms, achieving great achievements of Vietnamese revolution over the past seven decades.

The exhibition is divided into three parts, introducing more than 200 documents, photos and objects reflecting patriotic emulation movements through different periods. They include the President Ho Chi Minh's "Call for patriotic emulation” (June 11th, 1948); Letter from President Ho Chi Minh inviting Mr. Hoang Dao Thuy to be General Secretary of the Central Patriotic Emulation Committee; a paper fan that President Ho Chi Minh gave to Mr. Hoang Dao Thuy with instruction: “Let’s make the movements grow stronger and stronger”; Letter from President Ho Chi Minh to Mr. Ton Duc Thang - Head of the Central Patriotic Emulation Committee on cadre training andcommendation (November 1948); Rice jars for Vietnamese army during the resistance war against the French colonialists; Homemade lamps, turbines and abacus model of Hai Nhan Secondary School  (Tinh Gia district, Thanh Hoa province) in 1966; Achievements in the emulation movement in teaching and learning of Trung Vuong Secondary School in 2023; Protective gear of the Green Saigon group used to clean up garbage at the canals in Ho Chi Minh City, etc.

In addition, the exhibition also has an experience space "Fostering Talent" for visitors to make their own utensils from recycled materials.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Dr. Nguyen Van Doan emphasized the exhibition aims to affirm the significance, role and impacts of patriotic emulation movemnets in different historical periods, and inspiring patriotism among the Vietnamese people to contribute to civilized and prosperous development of the country.

At the opening ceremony, the VNMH also receive the artifacts donated by   Hero of Labour and People’s Teacher Nguyen Duc Thin and Athlete Nguyen Thi Oanh.

From 18 May 2019, the exhibition “Treasures of the Red River. Archaeological Collections from the Museums of Vietnam” will be running in the Winter Palace’s Halls of the History of Ancient Writings. It is being timed to mark Ho Chi Minh’s birthday and the days of the city named in his honour.
