On the afternoon of February 14, 2023, the Vietnam National Museum of History (VNMH) had a meeting with the representatives of British Council in Vietnam.
The meeting was attended by Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Hoan - Deputy Director of the VNMH and heads of the Department of Public Education and the Department of Communication and International Relations. The representatives of British Council in Vietnam included Ms. Pham Hong Minh - Head of Arts and Creative Industries in Hanoi and Ms. Nguyen Phuong Thao - Programme Manager of UK/Vietnam Season 2023

Towards the 50th anniversary of UK-Vietnamese diplomatic relations, and the 30th annivesary of the British Council’s presence in Vietnam , the British Council develops the program of UK/Vietnam Season 2023. The UK/Vietnam Season 2023 will ignite new collaborations that celebrate the best of UK-Vietnamese partnerships, and strengthen the connections between the people of the UK and Vietnam . Project proposals should be collaboratively developed and delivered by at least one UK-based organisation and at least one organisation based in Viet Nam. Projects from diverse range of organisations in the arts, creative industries, and higher education, addressing the Season’s themes of ‘Climate and the Environment' and ‘Shared Heritage’.
With the approval of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the British Council chose the VNMH as the organisation to coordinate with cultural organisations in the UK holding an exhibition and workshop related to the theme of UK/Vietnam Season 2023.
Responding to this proposal, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Hoan said that the VNMH is not only interested in professional fields such as research, publication, archaeological excavation, exhibition, edication, etc. but also focuses on promoting the heritage and attracting the public to the museum. Currently, the Museum is conductinga variety of educational programs for different audiences, especially students. She proposed to organize a workshop for the purpose of sharing experiences in promoting and introducing cultural heritage to the public.
The British Council representatives agreed with the proposal of the Museum. The two sides are responsible for exchanging information related to the content and organizing the workshop scheduled to take place in November 2023. It will also be considered a special event on the occasion of the Vietnamese Cultural Heritage Day.
The meeting took place in a warm and friendly atmosphere. Both sides believe that this cooperation will create a foundation for building a long-term relationship between the Museum and the British Council as well as other organizations in the UK.
At the end of the meeting, the British Council representative visited the museum's conference venues to prepare for the upcoming workshop.
