On the afternoon of February 14, 2023, the Vietnam National Museum of History (VNMH) had a meeting with Mr. Nicolax Fiévé - Director of EFEO and Mr. Philippe Le Failler - Chief Representative of EFEO in Hanoi. The meeting was attended by Dr. Nguyen Van Doan - Director of the VNMH and senior staffs from relevant departments of the Museum.

At the meeting, the two sides evaluated the results of cooperation programs in recent years and discussed bilateral coorditation activities in the coming years.

Dr. Nguyen Van Doan expressed  great satisfaction with the results of the cooperation, especially in the fields of training and publication. On this occasion, he also expressed his sincere thanks to Mr. Nicolax Fiévé for the support in implementation of projects between the two sides and wished to strengthen the partnership in the future.

Dr. Nguyen Van Doan shared that thanks to the investment of the Vietnamese government in the renovation of the museum building, it still retains the architectural and functional values even though it was built  over 90 years ago. In addtion to the documents and artifacts received from the Louis Finot Museum, the VNMH has collected nearly 250,000 documents and artifacts, including many precious collections.

With the goal of preserving and sharing valuable documents to the public, Dr. Nguyen Van Doan has proposed to cooperate in digitization, translation and publication of Vietnamese studies of many French scholars. In which, priority is given to some research materials on Champa and the diary of archaeologist Madeleine Colani.
The Museum side also expressed the desire to access valuable documents on Vietnamese cultural history which are currently kept in the library of EFEO as well as promote cooperation in human resource training. In response to that proposal, Mr. Nicolax Fiévé said that EFEO would be honored to create the best conditions in cooperation with the Museum.

On July 1-2, 2026, the Vietnam National Museum of History (VNMH) in collaboration with Da Lat University and Japanese conservation experts, organized a professional training workshop on the conservation of waterlogged wooden artifacts by the Trehalose method. The workshop serves as an important preparation for the project "Conservation of Ancient Waterlogged Boat in Vietnam by the Trehalose Method", while promoting the application of advanced conservation technologies for Vietnam's cultural heritage.

On the afternoon of February 14, 2023, the Vietnam National Museum of History (VNMH) had a meeting with Dr. Ayu Cornellia - the Digital Marketing Consultant of Sonobudoyo Museum, Indonesia. The meeting was attended by Dr. Nguyen Van Doan - Director of the VNMH and senior staffs from relevant departments of the Museum. As a representative of Sonobudoyo Museum, Dr. Ayu Cornellia expressed her desire to visit the VNMH as well as discussed the posibility of establishing a cooperative relationship between the two museums.
