Museum (Memory + Creativeness = Social Change) is the theme which International Council for Museums - ICOM selected for International Museum Day 2013.
Since 1977, International Museum Day was organized all over the world on May 18th. This year, nearly 30.000 museums of 100 countries on five continents will hold this event.
The theme of International Museum Day this year wants to emphasize the richness of heritage which is preserved and promoted in museum system in the world. This is the strength of museum in the trend of integration and development of culture today.
From that goal, Museums will contribute to practise the "social change" through the preservation, storage and display of the tangible and intangible heritage by promoting cultural dialogue . With this method, the museum will contribute to recognize the importance of cultural heritage for community and the importance of cultural diversity in supporting strategies to protect and promote cultural heritage. Museum will solve problem creatively in preserving private character of each region as well as advising state the method to promote cultural diversity, in order to achieve harmony society, museum also enhance its responsibility to participate in general social issues, such as: creating an environment for dialogue between urban and rural areas and enhancing the dialogue between culture and generation; expand the scope of activity of museum to all visitors in different environments ...
To International Museum Day really become a great festival of museum assistants as well as the public who love museum ,all visitors in domestic and foreign nation can tour free in Vietnam National Museum of history on May 18th, 2013.
We hope that, with the desire of learning history and culture of Vietnam, the Vietnam National Museum of History will be welcome more tourists to visit and explore on this occasion.
