On the morning of May 17, 2018, Prof. Catherine Horel, General Secretary of the World Historical Association, Director of the French National Center for Scientific Research visited the VNMH.

Dr. Nguyen Van Cuong Director of VNMH, received and worked alongside her. During this mission in Vietnam, Prof. Catherine Horel lectured at the Vietnam Historical Association with the theme: "The Global Scale of World War I - From the Balkans to the World". After the lecture, Prof. Catherine Horel carried out other professional activities and visited the VNMH.

"The VNMH is one of the most important museums in Vietnam. So most of historians in the world want to visit this museum when they come to Vietnam," said Prof. Catherine Horel.

After visiting the VNMH, Prof. Catherine Horel wrote in the museum's memorial book: "This is a museum showing very beautiful and impressive treasures of Vietnamese history."

From 18 May 2019, the exhibition “Treasures of the Red River. Archaeological Collections from the Museums of Vietnam” will be running in the Winter Palace’s Halls of the History of Ancient Writings. It is being timed to mark Ho Chi Minh’s birthday and the days of the city named in his honour.
