Carrying out the cooperation plan on cultural exchange between Vietnam and Korea, from May 8-11, 2018, the VNMH received and worked with the delegation of the National Museum of Korea and its affiliated museums (Naju National Museum and Gwangju National Museum).

On May 8, 2018, receiving and working on the side of VNMH was Dr. Nguyen Van Doan - Deputy Director with management and professional staff from some Departments: Department of Exhibitions, Department of Artifact Management, Department of Research and Collecting, and International Cooperation Department. On the National Museum of Korea side was Mr. Choi Sunju, Head of Asian Art Division and his colleagues. At the meeting, the both sides exchanged and agreed on some issues related to the signing of the MOU for the period 2018-2023 as well as the archaeological excavation and co-organization of an exhibition on cultural property in Korea.

On behalf of the VNMH, Dr. Nguyen Van Doan expressed his sincere thanks to the National Museum of Korea for collaborating with the VNMH in various fields in archaeological excavations, exhibitions, publishing and a commitment to promote these activities in the future. On behalf of Korea, Mr. Choi Sunju expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the cooperative activities between the two museums in the past. He also expected the relationship between the two museums to be tightened through the expansion of the cooperation program with two museums affiliated to the National Museum of Korea (Naju National Museum and Gwangju National Museum).

After this meeting, the delegation had a meeting with the professional departments of the VNMH to select exhibits for the cultural exhibition in Korea. They also carried out a field survey in Hai Duong province for preparing the plan of excavating ceramics kiln sites in Vietnam.

From 18 May 2019, the exhibition “Treasures of the Red River. Archaeological Collections from the Museums of Vietnam” will be running in the Winter Palace’s Halls of the History of Ancient Writings. It is being timed to mark Ho Chi Minh’s birthday and the days of the city named in his honour.

20-24 December 2017, VNMH’s delegation with Dr. Nguyen Van Doan (Delegation leader), Dr.Truong Dac Chien and MA.Nguyen Thi Dinh attended the 6th Asian National Museum Association (ANMA) Conference on "The Role of a National Museum in the World Climate Change and Cultural Sustainable Development" in Bangkok, Thailand.
