The Vietnam National Museum of History (VNMH) organized Jan 10, 2017 an opening ceremony to present its collection of national treasures in a temporary exhibition called "Vietnam National Treasures".

The ceremony was attended by Mr. Le Khanh Hai - Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, senior officers of MOCST, museum curators and cultural scholars.

In his opening speech, Ph.D. Nguyen Van Cuong - Director of VNMH wished the exhibition would provide visitors knowledge and sensation to the 18 objects which have been recognized as the national treasures of Vietnam. He said it took quite a long time for VNMH to prepare for this exhibition, in particular for the deeper study and object stories as well as applying modern technology such as 3D in exhibiting.

Opening ceremony of "Vietnam National Treasures" exhibition

This is not only an opportunity to see 18 national treasures but also to understand how they were excavated and discovered, how they were transported and preserved and transferred. Each treasure presents for each period of culture and history of Vietnam.

For instance, the national treasure or the book "Duong Kach menh" (The Revolutionary Road) of writer Nguyen Ai Quoc is featured with the story of origin as Assoc. Pro - Ph.D Pham Xanh told: the book was written in Guangzhou (China) in 1927 and brought to Hai Duong (hometown of) by Nguyen Luong Bang but later it was caught by a mandarin and sent to the province's governor. Then it was sent to the high court of French government in Hanoi until it was found by a man working in the court (revolutionist) when Vietnam occupied Hanoi.

This book is very unique. It was a key and guide book for the first revolutionists of Vietnam. Even Russian scholars once compared to the book of Lenin "What is to be done" because it marked the development of Socialism in Vietnam.

Regarding to the exhibition's laying out and designing of exhibiting, Ph.D Pham Quoc Quan - member of National Association of Culture and Heritage commented: it was quite an impressive exhibition with light technique and the laying art.

Also on this occasion, VNMH received a model of traditional firecracker donated by people in Dong Ky wooden craft village, Tu Son, Bac Ninh. The firecracker is made of high quality wood with decoration of "four sacred animals". It is the intangible cultural village model of Dong Ky village's festival.

The exhibition runs until May/2017.
