The Vietnam National Museum of History collaborated with Hue Monuments Conservation Centre organized an exhibition featuring royal treasures of the Nguyen Dynasty on December 6, 2016 in Long An Palace, Hue Royal Antiquities Museum.

Opening ceremony

Collections displayed this time include royal treasures such as golden and jade seals, golden books, golden swords, housing items and ritual objects which are categorized into purposes as followed:

- Objects as the most powerful tools of kings of the Nguyen dynasty, in particular seals and swords considered as the national weapons and king's power.

Objects represented for the power of kings of the Nguyen dynasty

- Objects related to royal rituals and ceremonies of the Nguyen court. Mostly made of gold, silver, jade and gem and serving for worshipping purposes.

Objects serving ritual purposes of the Nguyen court

- Objects related to arts tools such as tools to practice calligraphy or 'four treasures of study' (writing brush, ink stick, paper, and ink slab).

- Objects of housing and daily wares of the Nguyen royal family, including tea/wine sets, areca nut chewing kits... Decorations on objects depended on the ranges of users such as dragon for king, phoenix for queen etc...

The exhibition opened on Dec 6 with the attendance of high ranking officer of Thua Thien Hue province, representatives of related organizations and Nguyen Phuoc family.

On this occasion, the photobook of Royal Treasures of the Nguyen dynasty published by the Vietnam National Museum of History and Hue Monuments Conservation Centre are launched.

This is the first time for visitors to enjoy the antiquities which have been preserved very strictly by the museum for years. The exhibition runs till Jan 5, 2017.

On July 1-2, 2026, the Vietnam National Museum of History (VNMH) in collaboration with Da Lat University and Japanese conservation experts, organized a professional training workshop on the conservation of waterlogged wooden artifacts by the Trehalose method. The workshop serves as an important preparation for the project "Conservation of Ancient Waterlogged Boat in Vietnam by the Trehalose Method", while promoting the application of advanced conservation technologies for Vietnam's cultural heritage.
