The Vietnam National Museum of History (VNMH) opened the exhibition focusing on Doi Moi (Economic reform in Vietnam) and how it changed the country and life within 30 years.

Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam and senior officers of Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and representatives of local and international cultural and heritage organizations attended the ceremony.
The Economic Reform after the sixth National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam (12-1986) was the policy that generated decisive changes for the development of the country, said director of VNMH Nguyen Van Cuong.

The title "Doi Moi - Journey of dreams" carried a spirit of the reform, one VNMH curator said. The exhibition's idea is to present a contrast between old and new by presenting the objects of the "subsidized" time (before Doi Moi) together with things after the policy.

The museum displays 200 objects and materials, mainly were very representative daily wares in that time. It also told the object stories from the high ranking political leaders who made important decisions for economy (Truong Chinh, Nguyen Van Linh and Vo Van Kiet) to the ordinary people. For example, Le Xuan Pho with his ceramic company in Bat Trang village who paved the way for exporting Vietnamese ceramic to overseas.
In this exhibition, we can recall the past with the things that were very popular like the red JVC television, electrical fan, ice- keeper, lights, pressure cooker, sewing machine, electrical stove... Those were "dreams" to many people as they were hand carried from foreign.

The museum also constructed touch screens with the detailed content of the exhibition as well as documentary films about political leaders and the Doi Moi progress.
