On the 5th anniversary of the foundation day of the Vietnam National Museum of History (VNMH), September 22, 2016, the museum organized a ceremony to receive the 1st class Labor Order for its achievements and contributions over the last 5 years in the field of museums and cultural heritage.
Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam presented the order on behalf of the Viet Nam Government to the VNMH. It was taken in a formal but elegant way.
The VNMH was merged in 2011 by two biggest museums, the Vietnamese History Museum and the Vietnamese Revolutionary Museum. Under the leadership of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MOCST), it has grown up strongly to be an important cultural institution and the top national museum in Vietnam.

Also at the ceremony, the MOCST Minister Nguyen Ngoc Thien presented Certificate of Merit for 8 departments and 13 staffs of the museum; presented medals for 4 staffs and 9 collaborators. He also delivered a speech to greet all museum staffs including the former leaders and retired workers and praise them for their great contributions to build up the museum.

The VNMH preserves the biggest amount of objects (200.000) and many rare and valuable collections. Many exhibitions organized by the museum were praised by the public and attracting many visitors both local and international. The museum also implemented many important archaeological excavations and published valuable books related to Vietnamese archaeology. Modern conservation technique is also a strong point to make the museum a leading conservation advisor in the field. Such successful achievements resulted from the efforts of a united organization with the wise leadership and management as well as of each individual. One key of the success is that the museum is now focusing on international co-operation in many works. This certainly brings a new look and good effects for the museum.
