A seminar hosted by the Vietnam Ministry of Culture Sports and Tourism, and the Cultural Heritage Department and Vietnam National Museum of History (VNMH) was organized in Hanoi September 22, 2016 to discuss human resource development for Vietnam's museums.
Deputy Minister Dang Thi Bich Lien, Director of Cultural Heritage Department Nguyen The Hung and VNMH's Director Nguyen Van Cuong chaired the seminar which gathered around 300 representatives of museums and relics across the country as well as international cultural and heritage scholars.
Seminar "Human resource development in Vietnam's museums"
Around 20 theses were sent to the seminar. Those written by curators and scholars in museum field are said to have a highly academic and practical value. For example, "Urgent issues on the construction of the Vietnam National Museum of History", "Improving human resource quality for museums development in Vietnam" or "Orientations of museum human resource development"...
Deputy Minister Dang Thi Bich Lien delivered speech at the seminar
"Due to museum's human resource is a part of society and an important resource, it's necessary to improve the qualities such as physical, intellectual and morality in order to meet the general human resource standards in local and region" and "to meet the social demand as well as the renovation and development of museums" said Deputy Director Dang Thi Bich Lien. She also added "Vietnam will have many modern museums in the future. In order to manage and operate effectively those museums we need to orient human resource from now, even late".
VNMH Director Nguyen Van Cuong delivered speech at the seminar
The seminar provided a prospective on museum's human resource in the country and proposed solutions for improving museum's human education and training as well as a consultancy source for Vietnam's government in constructing the policies on management and using of human resource in this field in Vietnam.
