Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Ngoc Thien raised a question on his visit to the Vietnam National Museum of History (VNMH), 26/8/2016.
Exhibition and luring visitors to museums is tough to Vietnamese museums in general and the VNMH in particular. This is also the main topic in the meeting between leaderships of the VNMH and the head of Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Minister Nguyen Ngoc Thien, 26/8/2016.

Minister Nguyen Ngoc Thien visits the VNMH's exhibition.
The VNMH was established on the merging of the two previous museums, the Vietnamese History Museum and the Vietnamese Revolutionary Museum. After 5 years, the museum has made efforts to overcome difficulties caused from this merging. Although the VNMH is the biggest and a leading museum in Vietnam, the outcome is less than the potential. The Minister emphasized the "renovation" should be created to reform the museum including the working style. Museum staffs need to keep their professional working style and a friendly attitude to their customers.
To satisfy the demand of the audience with the exhibitions they want to see instead of exhibiting what the museums have. Moreover, the ways of displaying and decorating objects are also factors to attract visitors. Museums are special cultural institutions with functions of conservation, and education and promotion of history and culture. Visitors go to museums to enjoy cultural values and they deserve to get best services at the museums.

Museum marketing plays important role to connect museums and audiences. As the Minister said "all museums close together in museum marketing, museums with tourism and important is renovation".
Renovation with smart decisions can be a key for the Vietnamese museums and the VNMH in particular to meet the targets as well as to catch up with international museums.
