As announced in the VNMH's press release, the opening ceremony of the special exhibition "International support for Vietnam's struggle for reunification 1954-1975" was held at 25 Tong Dan, Hoan Kiem, Hanoi in the morning of April 24, 2015.

The exhibition is one of activities to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the liberation of South Vietnam and Vietnam reunification (30/4/1975 – 30/4/2015). It was done under the collaboration between VNMH and Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations.

Mr. Vu Xuan Hong - Chairman of Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations delivered a speech at the opening ceremony of the exhibition

The opening ceremony was attended by Mr. Le Anh Tho - Standing Deputy Secretary of MOCST's Communist Party Unit, Mr. Hermirio Lopex Dia - Ambassador of Cuba in Vietnam, Mr. Vu Nguyen Hung - Vice Director of Vietnam Film Institute, Mr. Vu Xuan Hong - Chairman of Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations, Ms. Dao Thanh Huong - Vice Chairman of Peace Committee of Vietnam, and representatives of 20 friendship organizations in Vietnam, non-governmental organizations, museums and guests.

Dr. Nguyen Van Cuong - Director of Vietnam National Museum of History addressed the opening speech

With around 150 pictures and materials and objects kept by VNMH and films of Vietnam Film Institute, this exhibition revived a real picture of the supports and assistances of the countries around the world to Vietnam for reunification before 1975. It aims to educate young generations for national defense and patriotism.

Delegates cut the ribbon to open the exhibition "International support for Vietnam's struggle for reunification 1954-1975"

The exhibition contains two parts:

1. People from over the world supported Vietnam in the struggle for the reunification of Vietnam 1954-1975.

2. International organizations, international conferences and courts that supported Vietnam for its reunification during 1954-1975.

Some objects showcased at the exhibition:

A signature book containing signatures of people in Varna, Bulgaria in a movement to support Vietnam's struggle against America

Flag, Museum of Vietnamese Revolution used the flag for getting the signatures of delegation attended the Conference of Committee for International Labor Union in Hanoi, 10/1963

Artworks made of B52 aircraft shell of French - Vietnamese artist Le Ba Dang

The great victory in spring 1975 has ended the Vietnam War; South Vietnam was liberated and led to the reunification of Vietnam. It was the victory of the Vietnamese people and the assistance of international friends. The exhibition is to say thanks to those supports.

From 18 May 2019, the exhibition “Treasures of the Red River. Archaeological Collections from the Museums of Vietnam” will be running in the Winter Palace’s Halls of the History of Ancient Writings. It is being timed to mark Ho Chi Minh’s birthday and the days of the city named in his honour.
