On January 13, 2015, within a project of exhibition of Vietnamese antiquities in Germany according to a MOU signed by the Vietnam's Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the German Embassy (dated 28/2/2012), the Vietnam National Museum of History's director and its senior officers have met with a German delegation and the representative of the German Embassy.
Two parties has exchanged and agreed on the issues related to an overseas exhibition, including making a schedule and draft, collection, preservation, photographs and catalogue publication.
Dr. Nguyen Van Cuong – Director of the Vietnam National Museum of History exchanged the exhibition's plan with Dr. Josef Muhlenbrock – Director of LWL Museum of Archaeology.
The exhibition is planed to be named as "Treasures of Vietnam's Archaeology" and expected to be launched from September 2016 to January 2018 in some places in Germany, such as the LWL Museum of Archaeology (Herne), Chemnitz National Museum of Archaeology, Reiss - Engelhorn Mannheim Museum. The VNMH Museum will collaborate with some Vietnamese partners including Thang Long Heritage Conservation Center, Ha Noi Museum and Vietnam Archaeology Institute to do this exhibition. The exhibition will introduce collections from 10 museums in Vietnam to exhibit the cultures from the North to the South and also the objects secured in the recent excavations in the Thang Long Royal Citadel, Hanoi. The experts expect that the exhibition will bring audiences a panorama of Vietnamese history from the Stone Age up to now.
The exhibition will be organized on the 40th anniversary of the diplomatic relations and the 25th anniversary of signing the cultural co-operation between Vietnam and Germany. It is believed to strengthen the mutual understandings and co-operation between the two countries.
