In the morning of January 5, 2015, a training course called "Museum studies Vietnam field school" was opened at the VNMH Museum. It was organized under a co-operative program undertaken by the Department of Cultural Heritage, the VNMH Museum and the Faculty of Museum Studies -University of Queensland (Australia).
It was attended by Mr. Nguyen Huu Toan – Deputy Director of the Department of Cultural Heritage; Dr. Graeme Were – Faculty of Museum Studies -University of Queensland (Australia); Dr. Nguyen Van Cuong – Director of the VNMH Museum, Dr. Vu Manh Ha – Deputy Director of the VNMH Museum and the museum's staff.
The course is the first activity in a museum program carried out by the Vietnam's Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the University of Queensland. The program was initiated from a visit to the museums in Vietnam in October 2013 and followed by a MOU signed between the two parties last October.

The course "Museum studies Vietnam field school" will be done in two weeks in Hanoi and Da Nang (Hanoi: 5-9/1/2015; Da Nang: 12-16/1/2015). The theme of the program is: "Museums and community development" and it's content focuses on the issues such as the ICOM Code of Ethics for Museums, and the role of museum leaders and workers and the role of museums in society nowadays.

Dr. Graeme Were gave Dr. Nguyen Van Cuong a book of Queensland University.
The training course is expected to provide knowledge and experiences for the museum workers in the VNMH Museum in particular and museums in Vietnam in general.
