On 6/7/2013 at the Presidential Office, 200 objects related to the foreign affairs during September 2011 to December 2012 made by President Truong Tan Sang were given to the VNMH Museum.

The objects are gifts given by 12 heads of state including USA, Brunei, India, Kazakhstan, South Korea, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Russia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Philippine... to President Truong Tan Sang, including:

- Books, newspapers and magazines: 40 pieces, some are valuable books like "The Istana" (Singapore), "“The life of Gandhi” (India)...

- Paintings: 40 pieces made of wood, metal, fabric, lacquer, oil, and gem, such as: Oil paintings given by Hillary Clinton, President of Laos Choummaly Sayasone, Russian Prime Minister Medvedev...

- Statues: 29 pieces made of wood, metal...such as Twin Tower Statue given by Malaysia, Gandhi statue...

- Ceramic vases, plates, tea set: 30 pieces, such as lacquered vase given by Philippine, celadon vase given by South Korea, silver tureen, jewelry box...

- Others are silk scarves, coins, photo albums, maps...

From 18 May 2019, the exhibition “Treasures of the Red River. Archaeological Collections from the Museums of Vietnam” will be running in the Winter Palace’s Halls of the History of Ancient Writings. It is being timed to mark Ho Chi Minh’s birthday and the days of the city named in his honour.

In Vietnam, the dragon icon has been found since the nation building time of Hung King through the legend of Vietnamese ancestors of "Con Rong chau Tien"(Children of Dragon, Grandchildren of Gods). To Vietnamese people, the dragon brings rain, essential for agriculture. It represents the emperor, the prosperity and power of the nation.
