In the evening of July 8, at the Guimet Museum of Asian Arts (Paris, France), a top museum in France and Europe for artworks, an exhibition called “The flight of the Dragon - the royal art of Vietnam” was opened.

The exhibition opening ceremony was attended by French Minister of Culture and Information, Aurelie Filippetti and Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Vuong Duy Bien.

The exhibition has been organized by the collaboration between the Vietnam National Museum of History and the Guimet Museum of Asian Arts (Paris, France).
This is the first time for the royal artworks of dragon, an icon symbolized for the Vietnamese people’s conception about its national roots, to be presented to the French and international public.

Through the icon of dragon, a special symbol in the spiritual and cultural life of Vietnamese people, the objects displayed in the exhibition show the thousands years of Vietnam’s history existing from the Bronze Age to the final feudal dynasty of Nguyen (1802-1945).
The French Minister of Culture and Information, Aurelie Filippetti said that the exhibition creates a chance for both Vietnamese and French public to get to know about the mutual cultures and strengthening the friendship and co-operation between the two countries.
Vietnamese Deputy Minister of MOCST, Vuong Duy Bien highly appreciated this significant event as one of celebrations for the 40th anniversary of Vietnam - France diplomatic relations.
