Vietnam National Museum of History

With the approval of the Vietnam Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the VNMH has coordinated with the National Museum of Korea to open the exhibition, “Ancient Civilization in Vietnam, the Early Morning in Red River”, in Seoul.

The VNMH delegation comprised 5 members, led by Dr. Nguyen Van Cuong - the Director, departed for Seoul to attend the opening ceremony on 24 to 29/4/2014.

On 28/4/2014, the opening ceremony was formally held in National Museum of Korea. On this occasion, the attendances have spent time on commemorating the victims of Sewol ferry disaster happened on 16/4/2014.

Mrs. Kim Yongna, General Director of the National Museum of Korea expressed the gratitude to Vietnamese Government and relevant competent organizations, especially, the Vietnam National Museum of History, for creating the favorite conditions for running the exhibition; the exhibition has marked a new stage in the co-operative tie of the two museums.

The VNMH director, Dr. Nguyen Van Cuong has addressed an important speech. It focused on reviewing the 5 years of co-operation of the two museums, and introducing about Vietnamese cultural history, especially, about Dong Son Civilization - a blooming period in the history of Vietnam, and explaining the restoration of the Ly - Tran dynasties that generated from the powerful resources of the earlier civilizations.

Mr. Pham Huu Chi, the Ambassador of Vietnam in South Korea has addressed a speech. He appreciated the co-operation between the two museums that helps to build a bridge of culture to connect people of the two countries, for mutual understandings and development together.

The exhibition introduces objects of the Bronze Age and Iron Age in Vietnam. Visitors can learn about how Vietnamese ancient people made the objects, how they were used, and what their cultural values are.

The exhibition has lured a number of Korean public and scholars and promoted through newspapers and media.
