On 22/4/2014, VNMH held 3 activities to celebrate 39 years of reunion of Vietnam (30/4/1975 - 30/4/2014) and the Labor Day (May 1): opening the exhibition of Vietnamese ancient statues, announcing new logo of VNMH and officially launching the automatic guide system (AutoGuide) at 1 Trang Tien Exhibition Hall.
Attending the ceremony were representatives from National Cultural Heritages Committee and Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, colleagues and public media organizations.
Ceramic statues used to be popular objects in ancient time. They were used by common people, in royal, decoration and religious purposes. The common usages led to the diversity in the type of statues. They could be friendly animals like pigs, roosters, buffalos… or daily wares like teapots, vases, cups, lamps. Visitors can enjoy the plain ceramic statues modeled in the early time by very simple technique, and see the sophisticated works made by high-level artisans later. The exhibition introduces 60 objects that have dates back from Phung Nguyen culture (c. 2,000 - 1,500 BC, Bronze Age) to Nguyen dynasty.
Also in the ceremony, the director of VNMH informed its new logo. After merging two museums (Vietnamese History Museum and Revolution Museum) to form VNMH, VNMH has collaborated with the Department of Exhibition Photography and Fine Arts to launch the contest for design of logo for VNMH. At last, the logo made by a group of 3 persons (Chu Van Ve, Ngo The Phong, Le Hoai Nam) has been chosen in 224 designs. The logo is in a shape of a new museum building, and has patterns of a Bronze Drum and a bunch of rice.
As holding a top museum in Vietnam, VNMH lures around 100.000 turns per year. They come to the museum for many purposes. Many of them want to get more information about the artifacts exhibited in the museums. The demand is big, though the number of guide in person of the museum is not enough for that. Thus, VNMH has built an automatic guide system in two languages (Viet - English). At the time being, the “autoguide” is built for the ancient-medieval times. The content is introduced in precise, concise and convenient ways to understand. The handheld equipment is compact; easy to use, may bring visitors new experiences.
