On 68th anniversary of the National Day (September 2), an exhibition titled “Vietnamese Ancient Jewelries” was opened at the Vietnam National Museum of History, at no.1, Trang Tien, Hoan Kiem, Hanoi on 30/8/2013.

Attending the Opening Ceremony were Mr. Nguyen Huu Toan, Deputy Director of Department of Cultural and Heritage, Mr. Luu Tran Tieu - Chairman of the National Council for Cultural Heritage, Mr. Duong Trung Quoc - General Secretary of Vietnam Science History Association, Mr. Do Van Tru - General Secretary of Vietnam Cultural Heritage Association, representatives of national and local broadcast agencies including VTV1, Hanoi Radio Television, Nhandan Newspaper, VOV…and VNMH leaders and staff.

The Exhibition has presented around 100 typical jewelries from collections belonged to pre-history period and Phung Nguyen, Dong Dau, Dong Son, Sa Huynh, Dong Nai, Oc Eo cultures. Especially, the royal jewelries under Nguyen dynasty in various styles and materials were firstly introduced. They are truly masterpieces, which were delicately created by Vietnamese skillful artisans. With a chronology from the pre-history time to the Nguyen dynasty will bring you a deep view on the development of jewelry history in Vietnam. Speaking at the ceremony, Ph.D. Nguyen Van Cuong said “The history can be interrupted but the jewelries that we preserve are continuous in whole Vietnamese historic process. It was resulted from our ancestor’s creativity, to make a diversified beauty”.

Through this exhibition, VNMH wants to express that: those jewelries are our national quintessence, created from the constant efforts of Vietnamese generations. Such are invaluable assets that should be treasured and we should be always proud of them”.

On July 1-2, 2026, the Vietnam National Museum of History (VNMH) in collaboration with Da Lat University and Japanese conservation experts, organized a professional training workshop on the conservation of waterlogged wooden artifacts by the Trehalose method. The workshop serves as an important preparation for the project "Conservation of Ancient Waterlogged Boat in Vietnam by the Trehalose Method", while promoting the application of advanced conservation technologies for Vietnam's cultural heritage.
