On 18-8-2013, the Vietnam National Museum of History held a talk entitled “The national spirit in the 1945 August Revolution” on the 68th anniversary of August Revolution, (19/8/1945-19/8/2013).
Attending the talk were over 100 students from Universities in Hanoi such as Hanoi Water Resources University, University of Social Science and Humanities, Hanoi University of Culture, Hanoi Tourism College, and veteran residents from Thanh Luong and Van Chuong ward, Dong Da district. After visiting the museum, the veterans and students gathered to listen to the presentations and discussed with Dr. Pham Xanh, a senior lecturer from University of Social Science and Humanities, about the national and social class solidarity spirit in the August General Uprising, by that, understanding the deep meanings and significant historical values resulted from such event.

After listening to Dr. Pham Xanh, the veterans have proudly reviewed the splendid memories in the August Revolution and exchanged with students. Many questions and historical issues were discussed and opened that made the talk interesting and fascinating. The students have asked about the policies and strategies made by our Communist Party. Especially, a student from University of Social Science and Humanities has put an interesting question: “The Russian October Revolution began in Petrograd city and surrounded the rural; China Revolution was originated in the rural and ahead the city; how can our August Revolution harmonize both the city and the rural?”…

Through the talk, the Vietnam National Museum of History wishes the students can understand more about the lessons on the promotion of national solidarity strength, which contain theoretical and practical values to utilize not only in the time to fight for the national independence but also in the time of renovation.
