Towards National Tourism Year Red River Delta region - Hai Phong in 2013, the Vietnam National Museum of History (VNMH) will coordinate with museum of this city to hold special exhibition "Red River civilization" in the Hai Phong port city.
Red River civilization is a indigenous civilization which has root and deep base in the long life of inhabitant on Van Lang-Au Lac territory. Through each stage of development, the Red River civilization has left unique hallmark.
In Technology, the Red River civilization was formed and developed on the basis of the revolution of metallurgical industry and bronze casting perfectly and on the basis of the height bronze casting art, the owner of culture steps into the EarlyIron Age.
In Economy, the Red River civilization is wet rice agricultural civilization of the ancient Vietnamese rice living in tropical monsoon area, divers terrain: rivers, mountains, plains and sea.
In Sociality, Red river civilization has Asian-style village structure of an divided sociality which wasn’t heated, new state wasn’t formed state. That state both exploited commune and represented the common interests of commune in institution struggle to conquer nature, natural disaster, land reclamation, irrigation and self-defence against foreign invaders.
Red River civilization is soon intimate exchanging relation with neighboring civilization, especially the Chinese civilization and Indian civilization.
With nearly three hundreds document and artifacts of Vietnam National Museum of History, dating from 2500 -2000 BP to the early 20th century with the material: copper, ceramic, stone, glass, wood... in approximate 500m2 area, special exhibition will introduce the achievement,, character and diversity of life and culture from the past to the present of Vietnamese inhabitant in Red River Delta to the public at home and abroad.
This is one of the practical activities to honor the cultural value crystallized over thousands of historical years of our nation. Content displayed again affirmed before Chinese civilization and Indian civilization spread, affected Southeast Asia, in the northern area of our country which is the center of the Red River basin has a brilliant civilization, established Vietnamese tradition, Vietnamese lifestyle, put solid basis for the development of Vietnam nation today.
Along with many other activities, special exhibition "Red River Civilization" at Museum in Hai Phong city will contribute in the success of the National Tourism Year 2013. To honor the cultural value of the area which has been crystallized through thousands of historical years and promote tourism development according to standpoint Vietnam tourism development in 2020, the vision in 2030, as Prime Minister ofgovernment approved: "Development of tourism will become spearhead economic sector associated with conservation, honor of cultural heritage, natural landscapes, move from developing with breadth to developing with depth, focus on quality, efficiency, brand names and competitiveness ".
The special exhibition “Red River Civilization” is opening on May 11th, 2013 in Hai Phong City Museum, 65 Dien Bien Phu Street, Hong Bang District on 58th anniversary of the liberation of Hai Phong city.

Kendy gray-green glaze pottery, dating Le Dynasty to the 15th century
