From 17th to 25th of November, in approval of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, a delegation of The Vietnam National Museum of History (VNMH), headed by Dr. Nguyen Dinh Chien, the Vice Director of VNMH, visited some museums and cultural offices of Korea.

The missions worked with officers from the National Research Institute of Maritime Cultural Heritage (Korea) in Mokpo, a city is located in Southern Korea. In the meeting, Dr. Nguyen Dinh Chien presented some results of underwater archaeology in recent years in Vietnam. The missions also listened to the report on collaboration bettween Korea and Vietnam from the Institute. Both parties focused on the upcoming cooperation in 2013 – 2014 on underwater archaeological excavation, training, preserving and the special exhibition “Vietnam cultural heritage”, holding in Korea in 2013 – 2014.

The delegation visited the Asian Culture Complex (ACC) in Gwangju. The building has been constructed in 2005 and expected to be complete in 2015. This is not only an opening forum for culture and art exchanges but also a centre for research and training and an exhibition space for diverse art forms and creative activities in Asia. There will be a space for displaying the Vietnamese culture, as planned, initially, by showing the Vietnamese photography and documentary in the war, post-war and development periods. Both parties (VNMH and ACC) discussed on a research cooperation on bronze drums of Vietnam and other Asian countries.

At the National Museum of Korea, both parties reached an agreement on the excavation report in Dinh Trang, Dong Anh District, Hanoi. The National Museum of Korea suggested to expand the cooperation on museology and history fields. In the following year, the two museums will collaborate to study on the Ly Dynasty of Vietnam in the relationship with Korea and the Vietnamese glassware and hold a special exhibition in November 2013.

In the visiting, Dr. Nguyen Dinh Chien joined in the workshop held by The National Museum of Korean Contemporary History with three subjects: “The diversity and role of the Museum of Contemporary History”, “The Contemporary history and education to younger generation” and “The vision and collaboration between contemporary museums in the world”.

On July 1-2, 2026, the Vietnam National Museum of History (VNMH) in collaboration with Da Lat University and Japanese conservation experts, organized a professional training workshop on the conservation of waterlogged wooden artifacts by the Trehalose method. The workshop serves as an important preparation for the project "Conservation of Ancient Waterlogged Boat in Vietnam by the Trehalose Method", while promoting the application of advanced conservation technologies for Vietnam's cultural heritage.
