The Exhibition “Oc Eo – Phu Nam culture” is taking place on July 25th 2012 at The Vietnam National Museum of History, 1 Trang Tien street, Hoan Kiem district, Hanoi.
This exhibition will draw some specific details of the scale and appearance of Oc Eo culture, as well as make a good chance for visitors to approach the antiquities more closely. And the final goal is showing the talent and hard-working of Oc Eo residents that helps strengthen efforts of protecting national cultural heritages.
Oc Eo culture was one of ancient cultures, appeared and developed in early 10 centuries AD in Southern Delta. The culture was found in Oc Eo, Ba The (An Giang province) for the first time, then expanded to Southern provinces, such as: Dong Nai, Ho Chi Minh city, Vinh Long, Tra Vinh, Tien Giang, Dong Thap, Can Tho, ect. There were thousands of diverse and native artifacts which represented to the economic exchanges with China, India, Roman and Persian, ect. All of them were taken to Southern museums to preserve and display.

Through 70 centuries of discovering and researching (from the first excavation in 1944, carried out by the French scholar Louis Malleret in Oc Eo, Ba The, An Giang province), today the excellent and famous culture is more and more visual. Some matters of its original forming, area, type of relic, artifacts, characteristic, date and development, ect. have been decoded and discovered by interior and exterior researchers.
Providing a good chance for domestic and foreign visitors, especially visitors from the north of Vietnam to approach and enjoy the excellent culture, the Vietnam National Museum of History has chosen and focused on 100 typical artifacts divided into 3 groups to present:
The first group includes jewelry and metal that the human-shaped embossed gold foil, a seal and tin artifacts are notable among.

The second group is ceramic artifacts that the most typical items are stoves, vases, jars, pots, lids, ect.
The third group of artifacts is Buddhism and Hiduism figures in many materials: stone, wood and bronze.

For the first time, a large-scale exhibition, displays important and varied artifacts, is carried out by the Vietnam National Museum of History in hope that we can bring new feelings, new discoveries of Oc Eo culture, a large important culture in the Vietnamese history.
