Vietnam is a nation which has a long large coast with thousands of islands close or far from the mainland and two big islands Hoang Sa and Truong Sa.

The sea and islands are important constituent parts of Vietnam’s territory along with the mainland. They are all the living environment of the Vietnamese people for developing the nation.

Long time ago, the sea took role as a civilized connection and was also an important road for exchanging culture and trade between the Eastern and the Western and between Vietnam and nations in the South East Asia and other continents.

For celebrating the 122nd birthday of Uncle Ho (19/5/1890 – 19/5/2012) and the International Museum Day (May 18th), The Vietnam National Museum of History, in coordination with the National Boundary Commission of Vietnam, Hung Yen Museum, Hai Phong Museum, Quang Ninh Museum, Quang Ngai Museum, the Centre of Hoi An Cultural Heritage Conservation, Da Nang Museum, the Museum of History in Ho Chi Minh city, Ba Ria – Vung Tau Museum and an antiquities collector Lam Du Xenh, is holding a special exhibition: The Marine Cultural Heritage of Vietnam.

Through the exhibition, many abundant documentations, artifacts and images, which have been chosen carefully, will be presented to domestic and foreign visitors. The objects are marine cultural heritage of Vietnam which also a message to confirm the sovereign territorial sea and islands of Vietnam

The exhibition is opening officially on May 18th 2012 in No. 25, Tong Dan street, Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi.
