Columns used to make the foundation of Hoa Lu citadel, wood, 10th century AD., Phu Dau Tuong, Hoa Lu district, Ninh Binh province,

The discovery of the Hoa Lu archaeological site reveals that these ironwood columns were used to consolidate the citadel’s foundation. This reflects the creativity in the construction techniques of military monuments in the Dinh – Anterior Le dynasties of the Dai Viet people, contributing to the creation of the famous ancient Hoa Lu citadel.
